Did you know that, on average, city drivers spend about 25 minutes each day looking for a parking?
That’s like, a total of six days in a year!
This shocking revelation was revealed through a 2017 survey done by Uber, back when the ride-hailing service company was still operating in Malaysia.
The pain in looking for a parking gets worse if you are heading to a location where the operating hours are limited only to weekdays.
For example, it’s not easy to find a parking near most government agencies. If you are working, you can only go during lunch hours, when you’d be expecting a crowd since everyone else is doing the same thing as you are.
Just imagine going to the nearest National Higher Education Fund (PTPTN) office to enquire on your student loan, or to the nearby Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) branch to settle your traffic summons or to one of the Road Transport Department Malaysia (JPJ) branches to renew your road tax.
1. No Parking Space / "Human" Jop Parking Lot
Can’t find a parking is your biggest concern but have you ever encountered an annoying “human parking” problem? This happens when someone is literally standing at an empty parking lot just to “book” it for another driver.
Note that this action is illegal and the person doing so will be committing an offence under Section 50 (3) of the Road Transport Act 1987, liable to a maximum fine of RM2,000 or imprisonment up to six months!
2. Parking meter rosak

Ah, we all know this too well! Parking meter machines is another reason we’re going crazy as half the time these machines are either rosak or vandalized.
You’ll have to walk from one machine to another, before you can actually find one that is fully functioning. Maybe even losing a coin or two (the rosak machine “ate” your coins), while you’re at it.
3. Not enough small change/no parking coupon
There will be bad days when you find yourself stuck with only large ringgit notes or no coins for the parking machines.
Or the machines just keep spitting out the only small notes that you would have, for no apparent reasons! Either that, or you have run out of valid parking coupons for your car.
4. Parking duration expired

Imagine going inside to pay for your traffic summons, only to come back out and find a new parking summon on your windshield.
Yup, the queue took too long and your parking duration has expired so you just received a new saman! Now you have to go back in there to make payment all over again!
5. Kena double parked

When all that is done, you go back to your car, only to find it being double parked! Your nightmare prolongs when there is no phone number displayed on the windshield of the car that is blocking you.
What else can you do apart from honking away or and wait for the driver to come to you?
